Baptism of Young Children  

It is a great privilege given Christian parents that their child can be bathed in God’s grace and know God as their loving Father and Jesus as their saving friend from their earliest memories.

The Church asks that before baptism, parents and godparents are reminded of the meaning of Baptism and the obligations they are accepting, that what is begun in Baptism the parents will be diligent in completing.  Therefore, a Baptism Preparation class is required for this sacrament.

• To start the process, call the office 712-323-1484 and register for a Baptism Preparation class which is held monthly on the 2nd Tuesday. Pre-registration is necessary.

Parents & Godparents are required to attend the class. If the godparent is from another parish, their pastor should send a letter giving his approval.

After attending the class, the parents will arrange a convenient time for the baptism with the parish secretary who will arrange a priest or deacon for the celebration.

Baptism of Older Children

Because there are so many variables with older children, ask to visit with the pastor and/or the Director of Faith Formation to discover the best path of preparation for your child. They may be contacted at 712-323-1484.

Baptism for Adults

The parish offers the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (O.C.I.A.). These are a series of classes that inform what the Catholic Church teaches about what we believe and how we are to live as followers of Jesus. Visit our O.C.I.A page.
