The Legion of Mary is an association of dedicated lay Catholics serving under the Holy Spirit, and Mary, their Mother and Queen.  

It is the largest organization of lay people carrying out apostolic good works in the Catholic Church, with well over three million active members in almost every country of the world.

The Legion of Mary was founded by Servant of God, Frank Duff, in 1921, and has the full support of the last six popes and the Second Vatican Council. The main purpose of the Legion is to give glory to God by helping its members become holy through prayer and active cooperation in the Church’s apostolic work.

There are two types of Legion of membership, Active and Auxiliary.

Active members meet once a week around an altar of Our Lady for Rosary and Legion prayers, planning and discussion of good works, spiritual reading and a talk from a Spiritual Director. Works performed by members, includes, Holy Communion to the homebound, leading the Rosary at Senior care centers, visiting the sick, praying for the dead, promotion of the Rosary and any type of Spiritual work that is needed in the Parish.

Auxiliary members pray the Rosary and the prayers of the Legion of Mary, ( the Tessera) for the intentions of the Blessed Mother and to support the efforts of the active members through their prayers. St. Patrick Legion of Mary, began September 4, 2020, as Mary Mother of our Creator Praesidium. Currently we are a group of 16 lay men and women, who each perform one to two works each week, under the guidance of Father James, our Spiritual Director.

The Legion of Mary focuses on the Spiritual Works of Mercy.
