For us, Easter is more than a day.  Easter is a Season that is seven weeks long or "a week of weeks", leading to Pentecost on the 50th day. Jews celebrate Pentecost as the giving of the Covenant and the Law at Mt. Sinai 50 days after leaving Egypt on Passover.  

Christians celebrate the new Pentecost as the giving of the New Covenant through the Holy Spirit.  Just as Lent prepared us for the renewing of our Baptismal promises on Easter, the Easter season prepares us for being more docile and obedient to the promptings and inspirations of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost (and beyond). May we use all the gifts of the Holy Spirit that were given to us at Confirmation. 

Let us pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us as individuals and as a parish. May our obedience to the Holy Spirit make Jesus more powerfully present in our lives and through our parish ministries. May everyone in this area feel that Jesus is alive in our midst!

We get the Easter season started in a big way next Sunday with The Feast of Divine Mercy.  This feast was called for by Jesus Himself in a series of apparitions to St. Faustina in the 1930s.  Jesus promises to open the flood gates of His mercy to the souls that approach Him.
