Updating the Holy Family Bell Plaza
For generations, St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery has been a sacred place of rest, remembrance, and prayer for Catholic families throughout Council Bluffs and Southwest Iowa. Established in 1864, the cemetery continues to serve as a peaceful setting where loved ones are remembered in the hope of the Resurrection and where every life and family story is treated with dignity and reverence.
St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery is now inviting families and community members to support the new Holy Family Bell Plaza through its Buy a Brick Program. Commemorative engraved bricks may be purchased in memory or honor of a loved one, family, mentor, organization, or special intention. Each brick will become a permanent part of the plaza, creating a meaningful place for prayer, reflection, and connection with the generations of faithful Catholics who have gone before us.
The cemetery is cared for through the shared efforts of the Diocese of Des Moines and the Catholic community of Corpus Christi, St. Patrick, and St. Peter parishes. Contributions to the brick program will help beautify and preserve the cemetery grounds, support ongoing care, and ensure that this sacred space remains a place of peace, faith, and dignity for future generations.
